Thank you for sharing this. The struggle is real and I truly understand getting back into focus once other things in life take priority. I’m a runner now walker now coping with sciatica and a knee that is pushing me into researching a knee replacement that I’m afraid of. The same with my writing. Afraid of sharing the complex trauma I’ve survived with the abusers that hid under the label of ‘family’ and never held accountable. Your video inspired me to face the hard times and ‘give ourselves evidence’ that we can and will do it. I’m so thankful for this. Thanks again. 🙏
So grateful you shared this. I’m sorry to hear about those intense struggles. I think if you can give yourself permission to write about them — without any pressure yet to publish or share them — you’ll be amazed. Science tells us that putting those difficult feelings into language is a powerful healing tool for our physical, emotional, and interpersonal health. Wishing you peace and strength.
Really helpful. There are so many times and so many things I am tempted to give up on , then something stops me. I hate failing to complete things I set out to do , including memoir writing. I can end up really unhappy with myself if I don't persevere. It is worth pushing through that pain barrier and pressing on but good to provide yourself with the sustenance you need to continue, whatever form it takes. Food, company , encouragement , inspiration.
Love it — thank you for this encouragement, and that's an amazing walk you're doing!! A great reminder that we can do hard things, and that it's all too easy to turn back and not persist. I've found that persistence is key in so many areas of life. Easier said than done, though, so good for you for continuing the walk! (Also, as someone who grew up in Illinois (Urbana) and now lives in Northern California, love hearing the buzz of cicadas in the background — to me, that will always be the sound of summer.)
